In accordance with the Australian Marriage Act 1961, the Notice of Intended Marriage form may be completed and be valid for up to eighteen months before the marriage, but should be completed at least one calendar month and one day prior to the date of your marriage.

To marry, you must be over the age of 18 years, not in a prohibited relationship and not already legally married.

For identification and proof of age each of you will need to provide the following original papers (not copies or scans):

• Birth certificate if born in Australia
• Overseas birth certificates and / or passport, if applicable
• Divorce papers, if either party has been married before
• Death certificate if either party has had a husband or wife who is deceased

Two witnesses to the marriage will be required and they need to be over the age of 18.
